I have been contacted by the local police department. They have arrested someone that they are pretty sure was in the process of stealing my identity. They have suggested that I contact the major credit bureaus and ask them to red flag my file. How do I contact them?
Thanks for your help.
Your first step is to contact all the credit reporting agencies. They can add a fraud alert to your file, but there are other steps you should take as well. Here is an identity theft victim's checklist.
