Watch your credit utilization rate What percentage of your available credit are you using? Your credit utilization rate is one of the factors that affects your credit score. On average, consumers use about 24% of available credit. Using more than 50% of available credit can give you a lower FICO score. FICO is the name of the most common credit score used by lenders.
