Under the proposed rules for the free credit report central website:
- Ads will allowed - unless they hinder your ability to complete the online request. (Distracting and intrusive pop-up ads might be prohibited. What about pop-under ads?)
- Credit scores can be sold at extra cost.
- Credit bureaus must clearly disclose that "free trials" of credit monitoring services require cancellation in order to not be charged after the trial period - if that is the case.
- Nothing will prohibit Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion from selling credit counseling services, credit cards, auto loans, travel clubs, health insurance, or most any other legal product.
