Don't let a car dealer take advantage of your bad credit report! Some auto dealers take advantage of buyers with poor credit. If you are in this situation, it may be best to get a copy of your credit report before you start shopping. Shop for your financing first. You can show potential lenders the credit report you got online. If they say the answer is likely to be "No," keep shopping. This way, you avoid unnecessary inquiries on your credit history. Each inquiry (other than the one you make yourself) tends to reduce your credit score by a few points.
